Inventory items are the pride of our artists: because the game has no «standard» weapons, every single one is hand-crafted, carefully restored by the book, made to the exact measurements and specifications of the available sources. Sometimes it's rather easy — like making a hunting spear or a set of battle javelins for the simple folk. Sometimes it's a job for several days — like Norse warrior's ranger axe of with a concealed crook, dark with time and polished by use, carrying the unmistakable label of one of the best German smiths. When we started the game back in '97, we decided that the RPG and inventory systems will be based on a realistic mechanics. If a particular sword looks heavy, it is heavy for the character, and vice versa — if it is heavy, it looks heavy on the closeup. The philosophy proved right: if you look at any of the currently available items, you can judge the majority of its RPG parameters by eye alone. Finally, there is a solid match between the RPG stats and the visual image. Finally, there is a harmony. Below are the items added during the last update. Raven. Raven is Reinar's own sword tuned to his hand and technique. Long and heavy, Raven is extremely well-balanced and can be used in enduring battles without much effort for the fighting hand — a rare item even among the weapons of mark, it is worth thrice its own weight in gold were it ever offered for sale. Decorated with two claws and a Raven's Eye stone, it is covered with intricate northern designs. Some say it was wielded by the dwarf king of all Nordling smiths. Some say it was a gift from Odin, given to his favorite warrior with a mission to bear Father's just judgement. Reinar never reveals the true origin or the meaning of the design. He never parts with the blade and displays it only when he is ready to strike.
Guardian's Mail. A result of a year's work at the cost of a large herd, this coat of mail is the best armour employed only by professional Guardians. Thousands of small rings will stop both arrows and javelins and collarless design calls for a complementary helm. Unlike less expensive and shorter versions of mails used by vikings and other warrior explorers, sleeves of this coat provide protection for shoulders while leaving arms free to handle the weapon. An armour of mark, Guardian's Mail is the sign of a true warrior.
Stormteller. Stormteller is a legendary helm of Ragnar, the northern konung known for his expeditions along the southern rivers. Stories tell that the helm was a gift of Nomad khan for Ragnar's bodyguard service. Stories also tell that the eagle on the helm cries and flaps its wings to warn about hidden dangers, be it an ambush on a forest road or a poison in a drink. The helmet passed to Kozarin No Rest, who challenged and defeated Ragnar during his last viking raid on Fatherdale, and since then became the favorite battle dress of the old Guardian.
